Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER

    1. Disconnect the R32 controller connector.
    2. Using an oscilloscope, check the signal waveform between each terminal and the body ground according to the conditions, as shown in the chart below.

      Signal waveform

    NG: Go to step 2 

    OK: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER  (See REMOVAL  )

  2. CHECK SATELLITE RADIO TUNER AND/OR DISC PLAYER 
    1. Check if the satellite radio tuner and/or disc player are equipped on the vehicle

      Result

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER) 
    1. Disconnect the L52 receiver connector
    2. Disconnect the R32 controller connector
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard resistance

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER  (See REMOVAL  )

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - SATELLITE RADIO TUNER) 
    1. Disconnect the L52 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the R29 tuner connector
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SATELLITE RADIO TUNER - MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER) 
    1. Disconnect the R29 tuner connector.
    2. Disconnect the R32 controller connector
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      R29-1 (SLD3) - R32-24 (SLD4) Always Below 1 Ω
      R29-2 (RLO-) - R32-20 (L4-)

      R32-20 (L4-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. REPLACE SATELLITE RADIO TUNER WITH NORMAL ONE AND CHECK 
    1. Replace the satellite radio tuner with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again (see REMOVAL  ).

      OK: Same problem does not occur. 

    NG: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: END (SATELLITE RADIO TUNER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX) 
    1. Disconnect the L52 receiver connector.
    2. Disconnect the R16 box connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX - MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER) 
    1. Disconnect the R16 box connector.
    2. Disconnect the R32 controller connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. INSPECT REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX

    1. Disconnect the box connector.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard resistance

    NG: REPLACE REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. REPLACE DISC PLAYER WITH NORMAL ONE AND CHECK 
    1. Replace the disc player with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again (see REMOVAL  )

      OK: Same problem does not occur. 

    NG: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: END (DISC PLAYER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  11. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER - SATELLITE RADIO TUNER) 
    1. Disconnect the L52 receiver connector
    2. Disconnect the R29 tuner connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

      Standard resistance

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SATELLITE RADIO TUNER - REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX) 
    1. Disconnect the R29 tuner connector
    2. Disconnect the R16 box connector
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

    OK: Go to next step 

  13. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX - MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER) 
    1. Disconnect the R16 box connector
    2. Disconnect the R32 controller connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    OK: Go to next step 

  14. REPLACE SATELLITE RADIO TUNER WITH NORMAL ONE AND CHECK 
    1. Replace the satellite radio tuner with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again (see REMOVAL  )

      OK: Same problem does not occur. 

    NG: Go to step 15 

    OK: END (SATELLITE RADIO TUNER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  15. INSPECT REAR SEAT CONSOLE BOX

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below

  16. REPLACE DISC PLAYER WITH NORMAL ONE AND CHECK 
    1. Replace the disc player with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again (see REMOVAL  )

      OK: Same problem does not occur. 

    NG: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY CONTROLLER  (See REMOVAL  )

    OK: END (DISC PLAYER IS DEFECTIVE)
