CD Sound Skips: Procedure

  1. CLEAN CD 
    1. If the disc is dirty, clean the disc by wiping the CD's underside radially with a soft cloth.

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      NOTE:

      Do not use a conventional record cleaner or anti-static preservative.

    OK → CD WAS DIRTY 

    NG: Go to next step 

  2. REPLACE CD WITH ANOTHER AND RECHECK 
    1. Replace the CD with a normal one and check if the same problem occurs again.

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

    NG → CD IS FAULTY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK WHEN THIS HAPPENS 
    1. Check the location in which the CD skipping occurs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Location's driving surface is bumpy or rough A
      Location's driving surface is normal B

    B → See step   5 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. CHECK RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION 
    1. Check the installation condition of the radio receiver.

      OK

      Installed properly.

    NG → INSTALL RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY PROPERLY 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. COMPARE IT WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE OF SAME MODEL 
    1. Remove the radio receiver and install it in a same model vehicle. Check if the CD sound skips.

      OK

      CD sound does not skip.

    NG → MALFUNCTIONS MAY NOT BE PRESENT 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. DID TEMPERATURE IN CABIN CHANGE RAPIDLY? 
    1. Check whether or not a rapid temperature change occurred in the cabin.

      OK

      Rapid temperature change occurred.

      HINT: 

      A rapid temperature change creates condensation inside the CD player, which may disable CD playback.

    NG → REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 

    OK → CONDENSATION DUE TO TEMPERATURE CHANGE (LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE BEFORE USING)
