Reverse Signal Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK BACK-UP LIGHT 
    1. Move the shift lever to R and check if the back-up light comes on.

      OK

      The back-up light comes on.

    NG → GO TO  LIGHTING SYSTEM  LIGHTING SYSTEM 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK VEHICLE SIGNAL (OPERATION CHECK) 
    1. Enter "Vehicle Signal Check Mode".

    2. Check that the display changes between ON and OFF according to the shift lever operation (P and R).

      OK

      Shift Lever Position Display
      R ON
      Except R OFF

      HINT: 

      This display is updated once per second. As a result, it is normal for the display to lag behind the actual change in the switch.

    NG → See step   3 

    OK → See step   4 

  3. INSPECT DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY 
    1. Disconnect the E62 connector from the display and navigation module display.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester connection Condition Specified condition
      E62-16 (REV) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG)
      Shift lever in R
      11 to 14 V
      E62-16 (REV) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG)
      Shift lever in any position except R
      Below 1 V

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR (DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY - PNP SWITCH) 

    OK → See step   5 

  4. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  
  5. REPLACE DISPLAY AND NAVIGATION MODULE DISPLAY. Refer to  REMOVAL
