Inspection Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING INTELLIGENT TESTER 
    1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the intelligent tester main switch on.
    4. Select the item(s) below in the ACTIVE TEST, and check the operation.

      MAIN BODY (MAIN BODY ECU): 

      DATA LIST

      Tester Display Test Part Control Range Diagnostic Note
      LIGHTING IND Engine switch illumination ON / OFF -

      OK: Engine switch illumination comes on. 

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    NG: Go to next step. 

  2. INSPECT ENGINE SWITCH 
    1. Remove the engine switch.

    2. Apply battery voltage to the engine switch.
    3. Check that the illumination comes on.

      OK 

      MEASUREMENT CONDITION

      Measurement Condition Specified Condition
      Battery positive (+) → Terminal 11 (SWIL)
      Battery negative (-) → Terminal 5 (GND) or 4 (COM)
      Engine switch illumination comes on

    NG: REPLACE ENGINE SWITCH 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ENGINE SWITCH - MAIN BODY ECU AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the E61 main body ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the E68 engine switch connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E68-11 (SWIL) - E61-25 (SWIL) Always Below 1 Ω
      E68-4 (COM) or E68-5 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      E68-11 (SWIL) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY
