Mirror Heater does not Operate with Rear Defogger Switch: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC 
    1. Use the Techstream to check if the CAN communication system is functioning normally.
      RESULT:

      Result Proceed to
      CAN DTC is not output A
      CAN DTC is output B

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK DEFOGGER SYSTEM 
    1. Check that the defogger operates normally.

      OK

      Defogger operates normally.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (MIRROR HEATER FUNCTION) 
    1. Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check the mirror heater function.

  4. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH

    1. Remove the mirror LH. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Check the operation of the mirror heater.
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        4 (HTR+) - 12 (LP-) 25°C (75°F) 3.0 to 4.0 Ω
      2. Apply battery voltage and check the mirror heater operation.

        OK

        Measurement Condition Specified Condition
        Battery positive (+) → Terminal 4 (HTR+)
        Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (LP-)
        Mirror becomes warm

        HINT: 

        It will take a short time for the mirror to become warm.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   5 

  5. REPLACE FRONT DOOR ECU LH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  6. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH

    1. Remove the mirror RH. Refer to REMOVAL .
    2. Check the operation of the mirror heater.
      1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

        Standard resistance

        Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
        4 (HTR+) - 12 (LP-) 25°C (75°F) 3.0 to 4.0 Ω
      2. Apply battery voltage and check the mirror heater operation.

        OK

        Measurement Condition Specified Condition
        Battery positive (+) → Terminal 4 (HTR+)
        Battery negative (-) → Terminal 12 (LP-)
        Mirror becomes warm

        HINT: 

        It will take a short time for the mirror to become warm.

    NG → See step   11 

    OK → See step   7 

  7. REPLACE FRONT DOOR ECU RH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  8. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  9. GO TO WINDOW DEFOGGER SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  10. REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  11. REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  12. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER. Refer to  REMOVAL
