INTRODUCTION

Some vehicles may experience a condition where the HVAC system operation is delayed for the first few seconds after start up and the HVAC system resets to 75°F (24°C). This condition may be caused by a damaged air inlet door servo linkage. A new part kit and service procedure has been developed to address this condition.

NOTE: Damage to the air inlet door servo linkage caused by improper replacement of the cabin air filter leading to the condition outlined above is not warrantable under this service bulletin.

APPLICABLE WARRANTY

This repair is covered under the Lexus Comprehensive Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 48 months or 50,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date.
Warranty application is limited to occurrence of the specified condition described in this bulletin.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

Verify the air inlet door servo linkage is damaged as shown.
NOTE: If the air inlet door is not damaged this bulletin does NOT apply.

Remove the blower assembly (LS 460/600h only).

Remove the screw.
Disconnect the connector.

Detach the claw and remove the blower unit.

NOTE: Step 3 is ONLY necessary if this procedure is being performed on a LS 460 or LS 600h. For all other vehicles proceed to step 4.

Remove the upper portion of the blower motor housing by removing the retaining screws.

Release the clips securing the upper portion of the blower motor housing to the bottom portion.

Separate the upper portion the blower motor housing by removing the retaining screws and clip.

Reattach the upper blower motor housing to the lower blower motor housing.

Reattach the blower motor housing to the HVAC box.
Install the Air Conditioning Unit.
