Brake Control Power Supply: Removal: Removal

NOTE:

While the battery is connected, even if the power switch is OFF, the brake control system activates when the brake pedal is depressed or the door courtesy switch turns on. Therefore during servicing of the brake system components, do not operate the brake pedal or open/close the doors while the battery is connected.

  1. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 3
  2. REMOVE BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 5
  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    WARNING:

    Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

    NOTE:
    • w/ Navigation System (for HDD):

      After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, be sure to wait for the time specified in the following table before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

      Vehicle enrolled in safety connect system 6 minutes
      Vehicle not enrolled in safety connect system 1 minute
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .
  4. REMOVE ROPE HOOK  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 6
  5. REMOVE ROPE HOOK ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 7
  6. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD RH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 8
  7. REMOVE NO. 1 COOLER COVER (w/ Air Conditioning System)  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 15
  8. REMOVE NO. 1 LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LIGHT ASSEMBLY  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 9
  9. REMOVE FRONT LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 11
  10. REMOVE DECK TRIM SIDE BOARD LH (w/o Spare Tire)  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 4
  11. REMOVE DECK BOARD ASSEMBLY (w/o Spare Tire) 
  12. REMOVE TOOL BOX (w/o Spare Tire) 
  13. REMOVE REAR FLOOR FINISH PLATE  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 14
  14. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM COVER ASSEMBLY RH  . Refer to REMOVAL - Step 16
  15. REMOVE BRAKE CONTROL POWER SUPPLY ASSEMBLY 
    WARNING:

    Immediately after removing the brake control power supply from the vehicle, there may be an electrical charge left in the internal capacitor. If planning to inspect the inside of the brake control power supply, leave it as is for more than 24 hours (to discharge it) after removing it from the vehicle. Then perform the inspection.

    1. Disconnect the connector.

    2. Remove the 2 nuts and brake control power supply.
  16. REMOVE NO. 1 BRAKE CONTROL POWER SUPPLY BRACKET 
    1. Remove the 4 bolts and 2 brackets.

      NOTE:

      Do not drop the brake control power supply. If the brake control power supply has been dropped replace the brake control power supply with a new one.
