Installation [10/2015 - ]: Procedure

  1. CLEAN BACK WINDOW GLASS 
    1. When reusing the back window glass:
      1. Using a scraper, remove the damaged stoppers, dam and adhesive sticking to the back window glass.

    2. Clean the outer circumference of the glass with non-residue solvent.
      NOTE:
      • Do not touch the glass surface after cleaning it.
      • Be careful not to damage the glass.
      • Even if using new glass, clean the glass with non-residue solvent.
  2. INSTALL NO. 1 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER (for 2-piece Type) 
    1. Install 2 new No. 1 back window glass stoppers to the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      Only 2-piece type back window glass stoppers are provided as supply parts. Use 2-piece type back window glass stoppers as replacements even if a 1-piece type was originally installed.

  3. INSTALL NO. 2 BACK WINDOW GLASS STOPPER (for 2-piece Type) 
    1. Using a brush or sponge, apply primer G to the contact surface of the No. 2 back window glass stopper.
      NOTE:
      • Allow the primer G to dry for 3 minutes or more.
      • Throw away any leftover primer G.
      • Do not apply too much primer G.
    2. Install 2 new No. 2 back window glass stoppers onto the back window glass as shown in the illustration.

      HINT: 

      Only 2-piece type back window glass stoppers are provided as supply parts. Use 2-piece type back window glass stoppers as replacements even if a 1-piece type was originally installed.

  4. INSTALL BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING 
    1. Using a brush or sponge, apply primer G to the contact surface of the back window outside moulding.
      NOTE:
      • Allow the primer G to dry for 3 minutes or more.
      • Throw away any leftover primer G.
      • Do not apply too much primer G.
    2. Remove the peeling paper from the new back window outside moulding.
    3. Install the back window outside moulding, as shown in the illustration.

  5. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS DAM KIT 
    1. Using a brush or sponge, apply primer G to the contact surface of the back window glass dam kit.
      NOTE:
      • Allow the primer G to dry for 3 minutes or more.
      • Throw away any leftover primer G.
      • Do not apply too much primer G.
    2. Remove the peeling paper from the new adhesive part of the dam kit.
    3. Install the new back window glass dam kit (adhesive side) to the glass (primer G area), but exclude the area above the notches on the upper part of the glass.

  6. INSTALL BACK WINDOW GLASS 
    1. Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.
      1. Using a knife, cut away excess adhesive on the contact surface of the vehicle body as shown in the illustration.

        Adhesive
        NOTE:

        Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.

      2. Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with a piece of cloth saturated with non-residue solvent.
    2. Position the glass.
      1. Using suction cups, place the glass in the correct position.
      2. Check that the entire contact surface of the glass rim is perfectly even.
      3. Place matchmarks on the glass and vehicle body on the locations indicated in the illustration.

        NOTE:

        Check that the stoppers are attached to the vehicle body correctly.

        HINT: 

        • Placing matchmarks is only necessary when installing new glass. If it is the reused glass, matchmarks should already be present.
        • When reusing the glass, check and correct the matchmark positions.
      4. Using suction cups, remove the glass.
    3. Using a brush, apply primer M to the exposed part of the vehicle body.
      NOTE:
      • Allow the primer M to dry for 3 minutes or more.
      • Do not apply primer M to the adhesive.
      • Throw away any leftover primer M.
      • Do not apply too much primer M.
    4. Using a brush or sponge, apply primer G to the contact surface of the back window glass.

      NOTE:
      • Allow the primer G to dry for 3 minutes or more.
      • Throw away any leftover primer G.
      • Do not apply too much primer G.

      HINT: 

      If the primer G is applied to an area that is not specified, apply non-residue solvent to a clean cloth and wipe off the excess primer G before it dries.

    5. Apply adhesive to the glass.

      Adhesive

      Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive (High modulus Type) or Equivalent

      1. Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.

        HINT: 

        After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time written in the table below.

      2. Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.
      3. Apply adhesive to the back window glass as shown in the illustration.

    6. Install the glass to the vehicle body.
      1. Using suction cups, position the glass so that the matchmarks are aligned. Press it in gently along the rim.

        NOTE:
        • Check that the stoppers are attached to the vehicle body correctly.
        • Check that the vehicle body and glass have a small gap between them.
      2. Hold the glass in place securely with protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.
        NOTE:

        Do not drive the vehicle for the amount of time written in the table below.

        Minimum Time

        35°C (95°F) 15 minutes
        20°C (68°F) 5 hours
        5°C (41°F) 8 hours
    7. Connect the connectors.
  7. CHECK FOR LEAKS AND REPAIR 
    1. Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.
    2. Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.
  8. INSTALL ROOF DRIP SIDE CENTER FINISH MOULDING LH

  9. INSTALL ROOF DRIP SIDE CENTER FINISH MOULDING RH 

    HINT: 

    Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

  10. INSTALL AMPLIFIER ANTENNA ASSEMBLY

  11. INSTALL NO. 2 PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY (w/ Rear Sunshade)
