Inspection [10/2014 - ]: Procedure

  1. INSPECT THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY

    *a Component without harness connected
    (Throttle Body with Motor Assembly)
    1. Check that the throttle valve opens and closes smoothly.
    2. Check that the there is no sludge accumulating around the throttle body with motor assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      1 (M-) - 2 (M+) 20°C (68°F) 0.3 to 100 Ω

      If the result is not as specified, replace the throttle body with motor assembly.

  2. INSPECT MANIFOLD THERMOSTAT 
    1. Remove the manifold thermostat.
      1. Remove the intake manifold.

        Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2015] , or refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - ]

      2. Slide the 2 hose clamps and remove the 2 water hoses.

      3. Remove the 2 nuts and manifold thermostat.
    2. Check the valve lift.

      HINT: 

      The valve closing temperature is inscribed on the manifold thermostat.

      1. Insert a 5 mm hexagon wrench and place paint marks at the same location as the edge of the inlet nozzle as shown in the illustration.

      2. Immerse the manifold thermostat in water and gradually heat.

        HINT: 

        Heat until the manifold thermostat is at or above the temperature at which the valve fully closes.

      3. Insert a 5 mm hexagon wrench again and inspect the lift amount as shown in the illustration.

        *b Valve Lift

        Standard valve lift

        2.5 to 4.5 mm (0.0984 to 0.177 in.)

        If the valve lift is not as specified, replace the manifold thermostat.

    3. Install the manifold thermostat.
      1. Install the manifold thermostat with the 2 nuts.

        Torque: 10 N.m (102 kgf/cm, 7 ft.lbf) 

      2. Install the 2 water hoses, and then slide the 2 hose clamps to secure the hoses.
      3. Install the intake manifold.
