Tune-Up Procedures - V8: Distributor

Models are equipped with Solid State Ignition (SSI), Dura-Spark Ignition, or Electronic Engine Control I (EEC I) system. No adjustments are required. Some 1978-79 302" engines may use a bi-level distributor.

On bi-level distributors, numbers corresponding to spark plug wires are molded into cap for identification. Due to design, however, the wires are NOT arranged in firing order.

Spark plug connections, inside distributor cap, are shown by inner ring of numbers. Outer numbers are for future applications. See Fig 1 and Fig 2. Actual firing order (1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8 or 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8) is found on top of intake manifold.
