Barometric and Manifold Absolute Pressure (BMAP) Sensor
The BMAP sensor is actually two sensors combined into one assembly. This sensor monitors the absolute value of the intake manifold pressure and atmospheric pressure.
NOTE:
Manifold absolute pressure is the difference between barometric pressure and manifold pressure.
Changes in atmospheric pressure and intake manifold pressure are converted into electrical signals and sent to the ECA. The signals are used to adjust spark advance and EGR rate to fit engine conditions.
