Glow Plug Resistance Test
- Remove glow plug connector from glow plug module on left side of cowl, in engine compartment. See Fig 1
. Connect one lead of an ohmmeter to the engine block and the other into each terminal in the connector. Record the readings.CAUTION: If the glow plug connectors are allowed to ground while the engine is cranking, severe damage may occur to the glow plugs and glow plug module.
- With the engine temperature at 70°F (21°C), the resistance of each glow plug will be .3-.6 ohms. If an open circuit condition exists, replace glow plug.
NOTE:
When glow plugs are removed or new plugs installed, coat threads with anti-seize compound.
