Turbocharger - Diesel: Testing
- Connect a "T" fitting into the line between intake manifold plenum and altitude/ boost compensator. Attach a 1-15 psi (0.0-1.0 kg/cm (2) ) pressure gauge. Raise rear wheels and block front of vehicle.
- Apply brakes. Place transmission in "DRIVE" position. Run engine at 2500 rpm. Boost pressure should stabilize at 11.6 psi (.8 kg/cm (2) ). If pressure stabilizes at proper pressure, wastegate system is okay.NOTE: DO NOT operate engine at 2500 rpm with brakes applied for more than 30 seconds. After running test, run engine at 1000 rpm for 1 minute to cool transmission.
- If pressure is not as specified, check and replace or repair the following components:
- Wastegate diaphragm.
- Hose connections.
- Turbocharger.
- Pressure regulator.
