Injection Pump Linkage
- Start and run engine until normal operating temperature is reached. Stop engine.
- Measure and record distance between pump lever and pump rear bracket (dimension "A"). See Fig 1 . Move lever against high speed stop screw.
- Again, measure and record distance between pump lever and pump rear bracket (dimension "B"). See Fig 2 .
- Subtract dimension "A" from dimension "B". The difference will be referred to as distance dimension "Y". Convert dimension "Y", to dimension "C". See INJECTION PUMP OPERATING LEVER ADJUSTMENT

Remove linkage between throttle lever and transmission kickdown. Measure distance between throttle lever ball joint, and lever pivot nut (dimension "D"). See Fig 3 .
- Dimension "D" should equal dimension "C". If dimension "C" and "D" are not equal, loosen nut on bottom of lever ball joint. Move ball joint in or out to make distance "D", equal with distance "C". Tighten ball joint nut.CAUTION: DO NOT loosen lever pivot nut. Doing so will affect injection pump internal adjustments.
- Reconnect linkage between throttle and transmission kickdown levers. Measure distance between end of link and pump rear bracket (dimension "X"). See Fig 4 .
- Adjust linkage rod to obtain a dimension "X" of 2.68" (68 mm). Move throttle lever against high speed stop. Measure distance from end of linkage to pump rear bracket (dimension "Z"). See Fig 5 .
- Dimension "Z" must be 1.22- 1.61" (28.5-29.5 mm). If dimension "Z" does not meet specification, repeat steps 1)-8).
