Pinpoint Test JA

  1. This test diagnoses 2 conditions: warning light is on at all times and warning light never comes on. If warning light is on at all times, go to next step. Go to step 4) if warning light never comes on.
  2. Open driver door. Turn ignition off to reset warning. Unplug connector from driver door switch. Turn ignition on. Check for warning on message center. Repeat this step for front passenger door and rear doors until no message appears or until all switches are disconnected. If warning still appears, go to next step. If warning goes out, service last switch disconnected.
  3. Turn ignition off. Remove EIC. See, under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION, ELECTRONIC INSTRUMENT CLUSTER (EIC) R & I  . Check for continuity between EIC 16-pin connector pin No. 24 (Black/Orange wire) and EIC 12-pin connector pin No. 4 (Pink/Orange wire). Replace EIC if continuity does not exist. Repair short in Black/Orange wire if continuity exists.
  4. Turn ignition off. Pull connector from suspect switch. Connect jumper wire between Black/Orange wire on harness connector and ground. Turn ignition on. Check for warning on message center. Go to next step if warning does not appear. If warning appears, service switch.
  5. Leave jumper wire connected. Turn ignition off. Remove EIC. Check for continuity between 16-pin C1 connector pin No. 24 (Black/Orange wire) and EIC 12-pin connector pin No. 4 (Pink/Orange wire). If continuity exists, replace EIC. Repair open Black/Orange wire if continuity does not exist.
