Pinpoint Test F - Memory Seat Does Not Work Properly

  1. Test Set Led  - Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester following manufacturer's instructions. Turn ignition on. Command SET LED on. If SET light comes on, command SET LED off and go to next step. If SET light does not come on, inspect fuse No. 8. If fuse is okay, go to step 10).
  2. Test Switches  - Open driver's door. Turn ignition on, then off. Within 2 minutes, request MEM1_SW, MEM2_SW and MEMS_SW. If display indicates switch is not active, go to next step. If display indicates switch is active, replace stuck switch or repair short to power on Brown/Orange wire between memory seat switch and Left Front Seat Module (LFSM). Retest system.
  3. Test For "1" Switch Condition  - Repeat step 2). If display indicates switch "1" is not active, go to next step. If display indicates switch "1" is active, replace stuck switch or repair short to power on Brown/Light Green wire between memory seat switch and LFSM. Retest system.
  4. Test For "2" Switch Condition  - Repeat step 2). If display indicates switch "2" is not active, go to next step. If display indicates switch "2" is active, replace stuck switch or repair short to power on Black/Orange wire between memory seat switch and LFSM. Retest system.
  5. Test Set Switch  - Open driver's door. Turn ignition on, then off. Within 2 minutes, while pressing and holding SET switch, request PID MEMS_SW. If display indicates switch is active, go to next step. If display indicates switch is not active, replace open switch or repair open Brown/Orange wire between memory seat switch and LFSM. Retest system.
  6. Test "1" Switch  - Turn ignition on, then off. Within 2 minutes, while pressing and holding "1" switch, request PID MEM1_SW. If display indicates "1" switch is active, go to next step. If display indicates switch is not active, replace open switch or repair open Brown/Light Green wire between memory seat switch and LFSM. Retest system.
  7. Test "2" Switch  - Turn ignition on, then off. Within 2 minutes, while pressing and holding "2" switch, request PID MEM2_SW. If display indicates "2" switch is active, go to next step. If display indicates switch is not active, replace open switch or repair open Black/Orange wire between memory seat switch and LFSM. Retest system.
  8. Test For Memory  - Move seat and mirrors to desired positions. Press SET button. Within 5 seconds, press "1" switch. Move seat and mirrors to second position. Press SET button. Within 5 seconds, press "2" switch. Press "1" switch. Observe seat and mirrors. Press "2" switch. Observe seat and mirrors. If seat does not return as expected, go to next step. If seat returns to set positions, system is okay.
  9. Test TR Sensor Input  - With NGS tester connected, request PARK/NEUTRAL SWITCH PID. If display indicates PARK or NEUTRAL, temporarily substitute known good LFSM and retest system. If display does not indicate PARK or NEUTRAL, repair open White/Pink wire between transmission range switch and interlock module. Retest system.
  10. Test DSM Supply Voltage  - Unplug connector C2 from LFSM. Using voltmeter, test for voltage at harness connector pin No. 12. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair White/Purple wire from fuse panel. Retest system.
  11. Test LED Output  - Temporarily connect pins No. 12 and 13. If memory light does not come on, reconnect wiring to LFSM and go to next step. If memory light comes on, temporarily substitute known-good LFSM and retest system.
  12. Test Circuit No. 272 (White/Orange Wire)  - Unplug connector from memory SET switch. Command memory SET LED on. Measure voltage at harness connector pin No. 9 (White/Orange wire). If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair White/Orange wire between harness connector and LFSM. Retest system.
  13. Test Ground  - Using ohmmeter, check Black wire for continuity between harness connector pin No. 8 and ground. If continuity exists, replace memory SET switch. If continuity does not exist, repair Black wire. Retest system.
