Starter Drive Pinion Test
- Remove starter from vehicle. See STARTER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Disassemble starter drive. See STARTER MOTOR under OVERHAUL.
- Turn the starter drive pinion by hand and hold the overrunning clutch. Replace the starter drive if the pinion turns in both directions or does not turn. See Fig 1 .
