Test K: Steering Diagnostics Cannot Be Entered

NOTE: This test is associated with DTC 15.
  1. Test SUPER STAR II Scan Tool (007-0041B) on another vehicle to verify scan tool is functional. Ensure connection from scan tool to test connector (located on right side of luggage compartment) is good. If scan tool functions, go to next step. If scan tool still will not function, replace scan tool.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Connect scan tool to test connector. Start engine. Latch HOLD/TEST button down. If DTC 10 or 20 does not appear, go to next step. If DTC 10 or 20 appears, go to ENTERING EVO DIAGNOSTICS under EVO SYSTEM TESTING .
  3. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Ensure EVO control module connector(s) are properly connected. If connection(s) are okay, go to next step. If connection(s) are not properly connected, repair connection(s) and go to ENTERING EVO DIAGNOSTICS under EVO SYSTEM TESTING .
  4. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect all EVO control module connectors. On models without air suspension, measure voltage between pins No. 7 (Purple/Orange wire) and No. 5 (Black wire) of EVO control module connector C214. See Figure. On Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis with air suspension, measure voltage between pin No. 16 (Purple/Orange wire) and pin No. 6 (Black wire) at Gray EVO control module connector C216. See Figure. On Town Car, measure voltage between pin No. 16 (Light Blue/Pink wire) and pin No. 6 (Black wire) at Gray EVO control module connector C250, and also between pin No. 1 (Light Blue/Pink wire) and pin No. 6 (Black wire) at Gray EVO control module connector C250. See Figure. If battery voltage is not present at all locations, and go to next step. If battery voltage is present at all locations, replace EVO control module. Reconnect all components and retest system.
  5. On models without air suspension, measure resistance between ground and pin No. 5 (Black wire) of EVO control module connector C214. On models with air suspension, measure resistance between ground and pin No. 6 (Black wire) of Gray EVO control module connector C216 (C250 on Town Car). On Crown Victoria and Grand Marquis, if resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in Purple/Orange wire. On Town Car, if resistance is 5 ohms or less, repair open in Light Blue/Pink wire(s). Reconnect all components and repeat Entering EVO Diagnostics under EVO SYSTEM TESTING .
