DTC B1681: Transceiver Module Signal Not Received
NOTE:
DTC B1681 can only be set during PATS On-Demand Self-Test. This DTC is stored in memory when the PATS module does not receive any acknowledgment from the transceiver module, regardless of ignition key status.
- Retrieve DTCs - Turn ignition off. Using NGS tester, clear DTCs and perform On-Demand Self-Test. If DTC B1681 is present, go to next step. If DTC B1681 is not present, system is operating properly at this time.
- Check PATS Module Mounting - Ensure ignition is off. Check for proper mounting of transceiver. See TRANSCEIVER under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If transceiver is mounted correctly, go to next step. If transceiver is not mounted correctly, correct condition, clear DTCs and retest system operation.
- Check Pink/Light Blue Wire For Voltage - Using NGS tester, request ACTIVE COMMAND MODES PID from PATS module. Select TRANSMIT SIGNAL COMMAND ON. Transmit signal produces a 2 seconds on, 2 seconds off voltage cycle. Backprobing connector, measure voltage between terminal No. 2 (Pink/Light Blue wire) at transceiver module wiring harness connector C297 and ground. Module is located behind instrument cluster. If voltage does not cycle between 0 and 7.5 volts every 2 seconds, go to next step. If voltage cycles between 0 and 7.5 volts every 2 seconds, go to step 5).
- Check Pink/Light Blue Wire For Voltage - Repeat TRANSMIT SIGNAL COMMAND ON. Backprobing connector, measure voltage between terminal No. 10 (Pink/Light Blue wire) at PATS module wiring harness connector C268 and ground. Module is located behind center of instrument panel. If voltage cycles between 0 and 7.5 volts every 2 seconds, repair Pink/Light Blue wire between PATS module and transceiver module. Clear DTCs and retest system operation. If voltage does not cycle between 0 and 7.5 volts every 2 seconds, replace PATS module. Reprogram a NEW and spare ignition key. See KEY INITIALIZATION and SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING under SERVICE PROCEDURES. Clear DTCs and retest system operation.
- Check Pink/White Wire For Open (PATS Module Connected) - Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect transceiver module wiring harness connector C297. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Pink/White wire) at transceiver module wiring harness connector C297. See Figure . If resistance is 20 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 20 ohms, go to step 7).
- Check Pink/White Wire For Open (PATS Module Disconnected) - Disconnect PATS module wiring harness connector C268. Measure resistance in Pink/White wire between transceiver module wiring harness connector C297 terminal No. 1 and PATS module wiring harness connector C268 terminal No. 14. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, reconnect PATS module wiring harness connector C268 and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Pink/White wire between PATS module and transceiver module. Clear DTCs and retest system operation.
- Check Dark Blue/Yellow Wire For Voltage - Reconnect transceiver module wiring harness connector C297. Turn ignition on. Repeat TRANSMIT SIGNAL COMMAND ON. Backprobing connector, measure voltage between ground terminal No. 4 (Dark Blue/Yellow wire) at transceiver module wiring harness connector C297. If voltage does not cycle between 0 and 2 volts every 2 seconds, go to next step. If voltage cycles between 0 and 2 volts every 2 seconds, go to step 9).
- Check Dark Blue/Yellow Wire For Voltage - Repeat TRANSMIT SIGNAL COMMAND ON. Backprobing connector, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 13 (Dark Blue/Yellow wire) at PATS module wiring harness connector C268. If voltage cycles between 0 and 2 volts every 2 seconds, repair Dark Blue/Yellow wire between PATS module and transceiver module. Clear DTCs and retest system operation. If voltage does not cycle between 0 and 2 volts every 2 seconds, replace PATS module. Reprogram a NEW and spare ignition key. See KEY INITIALIZATION and SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING under SERVICE PROCEDURES . Clear DTCs and retest system operation.
- Check Red/White Wire For Voltage - Repeat TRANSMIT SIGNAL COMMAND ON. Backprobing connector, measure voltage between terminal No. 3 (Red/White wire) at transceiver module wiring harness connector C297 and ground. If voltage cycles between 0 and 5 volts every 2 seconds, go to step 11). If voltage does not cycle between 0 and 5 volts every 2 seconds, go to next step.
- Check Red/White Wire For Voltage - Repeat TRANSMIT SIGNAL COMMAND ON. Backprobing connector, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 11 (Red/White wire) at PATS module wiring harness connector C268. If voltage cycles between 0 and 5 volts every 2 seconds, repair Red/White wire between PATS module and transceiver module. Clear DTCs and retest system operation. If voltage does not cycle between 0 and 5 volts every 2 seconds, replace PATS module. Reprogram a NEW and spare ignition key. See KEY INITIALIZATION and SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING under SERVICE PROCEDURES . Clear DTCs and retest system.
- Retrieve DTCs - Using NGS tester, perform PATS On-Demand Self-Test. If DTC B1681 exists, replace transceiver module. Reprogram a NEW and spare ignition key. See KEY INITIALIZATION and SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING under SERVICE PROCEDURES . Clear DTCs and retest system. If DTC B1681 does not exist, system is operating properly at this time.
