Test H: Easy Exit/Entry Feature Inoperative

NOTE: After any repairs are complete, ensure all component are properly installed and all harness connectors are connected properly and repeat data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS in appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - TOWN CAR article.
  1. Ensure transmission is in Park. Using driver's seat control switch, operate driver's seat in all directions. If seat operates properly in all directions, go to next step. If seat does not operate properly, repair seat by symptom. See SYMPTOM CHART  table.
  2. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Position seat in center of travel. Remove key from ignition. If seat does not move rearward approximately 2 inches, go to next step. If seat moves rearward approximately 2 inches, go to step  5 .
  3. Connect NGS tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Access LCM on scan tool. Select LCM PIP IGN_KEY and IGN_LC. Starting with key in LOCK position, turn key one position at a time while monitoring scan tool display. Remove key while observing LCM PIP IGN_KEY. If scan tool display corresponds to switch position, go to next step. If scan tool display does not correspond to switch position, repair ignition switch concern. See appropriate STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
  4. Using NGS tester, perform Driver's Seat Module (DSM) self-test. If no DTCs are retrieved, replace driver's seat module. If DTC B1665, B1962 or B1965 are retrieved, perform TEST E: SEAT MOTORS OPERATE IN ONE SECOND INTERVALS  . If any other DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate test. See DRIVER'S SEAT MODULE DTC INDEX  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
  5. Remove key and exit vehicle. Ensure all doors are closed completely. After 10 seconds, enter vehicle and close door. Insert key into ignition switch. If driver's seat does not move forward approximately 2 inches, go to next step. If driver's seat move forward approximately 2 inches, system is okay at this time.
  6. Using NGS tester, retrieve and record Lighting Control Module (LCM) DTCs. Clear LCM DTCs. Using NGS tester, perform LCM self-test. If any LCM DTCs exist, diagnosis DTCs as necessary. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - TOWN CAR article. If no LCM DTCs exist, go to next step.
  7. Using NGS tester, retrieve Driver's Seat Module (DSM) DTCs. If DSM DTCs exist, perform appropriate test. See DRIVER'S SEAT MODULE DTC INDEX  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If DSM DTCs do not exist, replace driver's seat module.
