Test H: Left Front & Left Rear Windows Are Inoperative

NOTE: Left rear window control switch harness connector C711 is a flat 4-pin connector. Left rear window control switch harness connector C709 is a square 4-pin connector.
  1. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Using NGS tester, select and monitor Driver's Door Module (DDM) PIDs D_PW_SW and LRPW_SW. Press and release master window control switch left front and left rear window switch in the UP and DOWN position several times. If PID agrees with the switch position, go to next step. If PID does not agree with the switch position, replace driver's door module.
  2. Ensure transmission is in Park. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Remove maxi-fuse No. 5 (40-amp) in power distribution box. Check fuse. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and retest system operation. If new fuse blows, go to step  4 .
  3. Measure voltage at input side of maxi-fuse No. 5 (40-amp) in power distribution box. If battery voltage exists, repair open in Yellow/Light Green wire. If battery voltage does not exist, replace power distribution box.
  4. Remove fuse No. 9 (40-amp) in power distribution box. Remove fuse No. 41 (20-amp) in instrument panel fuse box. Disconnect left rear window control switch harness connector C709. Measure resistance between ground and output side of maxi-fuse No. 5 (40-amp) in power distribution box. If resistance is greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Yellow/Light Green wire.
  5. Test left rear window control switch. See SINGLE SWITCHES  under COMPONENT TESTS. If left rear window control switch is okay, go to next step. If left rear window control switch is defective, replace switch.
  6. Measure voltage at Yellow/Light Blue wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C711. Measure voltage at Gray/Orange wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C711. If voltage does not exist at both terminals, go to next step. If voltage exists at either terminal, repair short to voltage in Yellow/Light Blue and/or Gray/Orange wire.
  7. Disconnect DDM harness connector C523. Measure resistance between ground and Yellow/Light Blue wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C711. Measure resistance between ground and Gray/Orange wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C711. If both resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to next step. If either resistance reading is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Yellow/Light Blue and/or Gray/Orange wire.
  8. Measure voltage at Yellow/Black wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C709. Measure voltage at Yellow/Light Blue wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C709. If voltage exists at either terminal, go to next step. If voltage does not exist at both terminals, go to step  10 .
  9. Disconnect left rear window motor harness connector C710. Measure voltage between ground and Yellow/Black wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C709. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Yellow/Black wire. If voltage does not exist, repair short to voltage in Yellow/Light Blue wire.
  10. Measure resistance between ground and Yellow/Black wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C709. Measure resistance between ground and Yellow/Light Blue wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C709. If both resistance readings are 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If both resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, go to step  12 .
  11. Disconnect left rear window motor harness connector C710. Measure resistance between ground and Yellow/Black wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C709. Measure resistance between ground and Yellow/Light Blue wire terminal at left rear window control switch harness connector C709. If both resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace left rear window motor. If either resistance reading is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Yellow/Black and/or Yellow/Light Blue wire.
  12. Disconnect DDM harness connector C522. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Pink/Yellow wire) at DDM harness connector C522. Measure voltage at terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire) at DDM harness connector C522. See Figure . If voltage exist at either terminal, go to next step. If voltage does not exist at both terminals, go to step  14 .
  13. Disconnect left front window motor harness connector C514. Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Pink/Yellow wire) at DDM harness connector C522. If voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Pink/Yellow wire. If voltage does not exist, repair short to voltage in Red/Yellow wire.
  14. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Pink/Yellow wire) at DDM harness connector C522. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire) at DDM harness connector C522. If either resistance reading is 10 k/ohms or less, go to next step. If both resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace driver's door module.
  15. Disconnect left front window motor harness connector C514. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Pink/Yellow wire) at DDM harness connector C522. Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 2 (Red/Yellow wire) at DDM harness connector C522. If both resistance readings are greater than 10 k/ohms, replace left front window motor. If either resistance reading is 10 k/ohms or less, repair short to ground in Pink/Yellow and/or Red/Yellow wire.
