Test Q: Traction Control Inoperative

  1. Check For DTCs

Carry out ABS control module On-Demand Self-Test. If DTCs are retrieved, go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE DEFINITIONS  table. If DTCs are not present, go to next step.
  2. Check ABS Operation

Test drive vehicle. Check ABS operation. If ABS operates correctly, go to next step. If ABS does not operate correctly, go to SYMPTOM CHART .
  3. Check Driver Setting

Turn ignition on. Press message center vehicle setting switch until message center displays TRACTION CONTROL. If message reads TRACTION CONTROL OFF, enable traction control. Retest system for normal operation. If message does not read TRACTION CONTROL OFF, go to next step.
  4. Check BPP Switch

Disconnect ABS control module connector. Connect EEC-IV 60-Pin Breakout Box. Measure voltage between breakout box terminals No. 12 (Light Green wire) and No.8 (Light Green/Yellow wire). If voltage is present, see EXTERIOR LIGHTING article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. If voltage is not present, replace ABS control module. See ABS CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Retest system for normal operation.
