Self-Diagnostic System: Self-Diagnostics
- The remote keyless entry system utilizes a self-diagnostic system which may store a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) if a problem exists in the system. DTCs may be retrieved using Next Generation Star (NGS) tester or other OBD-II compliant scan tool and Data Link Connector (DLC) for diagnosis of system. Before performing any testing, perform INSPECTION & VERIFICATION
under TROUBLESHOOTING. If inspection and verification has been performed, go to next step.
- Connect NGS tester to DLC located below instrument panel. Using NGS tester, perform DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST. If NGS tester displays CKT 914, CKT 915 or CKT 70=ALL MODULES NO RESP/NOT EQUIP, see
MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - EXPEDITION & NAVIGATOR article to diagnose network fault. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for RAP, perform TEST D: NO COMMUNICATION WITH RAP MODULE
under SYSTEMS TESTS. If NGS tester displays NO RESP/NOT EQUIP for GEM, perform TEST F: NO COMMUNICATION WITH GEM MODULE
under SYSTEMS TESTS.
- If NGS tester displays SYSTEM PASSED, retrieve and record continuous DTCs. Erase continuous DTCs. Perform self-test for GEM using NGS tester. If GEM DTCs are retrieved, see
MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - EXPEDITION & NAVIGATOR article to diagnose network concern. If RAP DTCs are retrieved, see REMOTE ANTI-THEFT PERSONALITY (RAP) MODULE DTC DEFINITIONS
table to continue diagnosis. If no DTCs are retrieved, perform appropriate system test. See SYMPTOM INDEX
table under SYSTEM TESTS.
