Engine And Radiator Flushing

- Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
- Remove the water thermostat.
- Install the water hose connection without the water thermostat.
- Use an appropriate cooling system flusher to flush the engine and radiator.
Use Motorcraft Cooling System Flush VC-1 or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M14P7-A.
- Install the water thermostat.
- Backflush the heater core (18476). For additional information, refer to Heater Core Backflushing .
- Fill the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
WARNING:
Do not open the cooling system while it is hot or while the engine is running. Failure to follow these instructions can result in personal injury.
