Test M: Off Switch Is Inoperative

  1. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). Using NGS tester, access speed control servo PID SC_OFF. Press and release OFF switch while monitoring PID SC_OFF on NGS tester, and slightly turn steering wheel side to side. NGS tester should display ACTIVE when switch is pressed and NOTACTIVE when switch is released. If PID SC_OFF does not agree with switch position, go to next step. If PID SC_OFF agrees with switch position, system is okay at this time.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect speed control servo harness connector C122. Measure resistance between speed control servo connector C122 terminals No. 5 (Light Blue/Black wire) and No. 6 (Black wire). See Figure. Press speed control OFF switch, and slightly turning steering wheel side to side. Resistance should be 5 ohms or less when switch is pressed and greater than 10 k/ohms when switch is released. If resistances are as specified, replace speed control servo. If resistances are not as specified, replace speed control switch. Retest system operation.
