Test G: Generator Is Noisy
- Check drive belt for damage. Check drive belt installation. If no problem is found, go to next step. If any problem is found, repair as necessary.
- Ensure generator mounting surfaces are clean and fasteners are tight. If no problem is found, go to next step. If any problem is found, clean and tighten as necessary.
- Disconnect generator 3-pin connector. Start engine. With engine idling, listen for noise. If noise exists, go to next step. If noise does not exist, replace generator. See GENERATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
- Turn ignition off. Connect generator 3-pin connector. Start engine. Turn off all accessories. Using stethoscope, locate source of noise. If generator is source of noise, replace generator. See GENERATOR under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If noise is located elsewhere, diagnose and repair as necessary.
