Removal and Installation

    CAUTION: Do not allow the steering wheel to rotate while the steering column intermediate shaft is disconnected or damage to the clockspring can result. If there is evidence that the intermediate shaft has rotated the clockspring must be removed and recentered. For additional information, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS .

  1. Remove the intermediate shaft pinch bolt and disconnect the intermediate shaft (3B676) from the steering column.
    • Discard the bolt.
  2. Remove the shock absorber electronic steering sensor (18B015).
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector.
    2. Remove the screws.
    3. Remove the shock absorber electronic steering sensor.

  3. Remove the suspension height sensor control ring (3C131).
    1. Remove the steering column bearing spring (3C674).
    2. Remove the suspension height sensor control ring.

  4. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
