Instrument Panel: Installation

CAUTION: Electronic modules are sensitive to static electrical charges. Avoid exposing any modules to static electrical charges, as this may cause damage to the modules.
    NOTE: Installation of the instrument panel into the vehicle requires an assistant.
    NOTE: Make the sure the instrument panel center locator pin is engaged into the cowl top.
  1. Install the instrument panel into the vehicle.
  2. Install the instrument panel cowl top bracket screw.

  3. Install the 3 instrument panel cowl top screws.
  4. Install the lower LH instrument panel cowl side bolt.

  5. Install the upper LH instrument panel cowl side nut.

  6. Install the RH instrument panel cowl side nut.

  7. Install the instrument panel defroster opening grille.
    • Connect the electrical connector
  8. Install the 4 nuts and the instrument panel tunnel brace.

  9. Position the tunnel brace trim cover and install the 2 pin-type retainers.

  10. Connect the transmission shift cable to the steering column.
    1. Connect the cable to the steering column bracket.
    2. Connect the cable to the steering column shift tube lever.

  11. Connect the intermediate shaft to the steering column shaft and install a new pinch bolt.

  12. Install the steering column brace.
    1. Position the steering column brace.
    2. Install the nut.

  13. Connect the vacuum connector.

  14. Connect the parking brake release vacuum connector.

  15. Connect the LH instrument panel wiring harness connectors.

  16. Install the LH ground bolt.

  17. Clip the LH bulkhead connector into the dash panel.

  18. Position the steering column lower reinforcement. Install the 5 bolts.

  19. Install the steering column opening lower finish panel.
    1. Align the steering column opening lower finish panel and push in to seat the retaining clips.
    2. Position the parking brake release assembly.
    3. Install the screws.

  20. Connect the RH instrument panel wiring harness electrical connectors.

  21. Install the RH ground bolts.

  22. Install the LH and RH A-pillar trim panels.

  24. Install the LH and RH A-pillar lower trim panels.
  25. Install the LH and RH door weatherstrip seals.
  26. Install the RH instrument panel lower insulator.
  27. Open the glove compartment door.
  28. Install the instrument panel support brace bolt through the glove compartment opening.

  29. While pushing in on the 2 glove compartment door tabs, position the glove compartment upward.
  30. Connect the glove compartment isolator. Close the glove compartment.
  31. From under the hood, connect the LH bulkhead connector.
    • Tighten the bolt.

  32. Repower the supplemental restraint system (SRS). For additional information, Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
