Engine Front Cover: Installation
- Apply silicone gasket and sealant in the locations shown.
- Position the engine front cover (6019) and install the bolts and the studs in three stages:
Stage 1: Tighten numbers one through five to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
Stage 2: Tighten numbers six and seven to 50 Nm (37 lb-ft).
Stage 3: Tighten numbers 11 through 15 to 25 Nm (18 lb-ft).
- Install the belt idler pulley and the bolt.
- Connect the CMP sensor.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Tighten the bolts in three stages:
- Stage 1: Tighten to 2 Nm (18 lb-in).
- Stage 2: Tighten to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft).
- Stage 3: Tighten an additional 60 degrees.
- Install the crankshaft front oil seal. Refer to CRANKSHAFT FRONT OIL SEAL .
- Install the drain plug.
- Connect the CKP sensor.
- Position the A/C muffler and tighten the nut.
- Position the power steering pump and install the bolts.
- Position the hose support and install the nuts (if equipped).
- Install the crankshaft pulley. Refer to CRANKSHAFT PULLEY .
- Install the water pump pulley and the bolts.
- Install the cooling fan. Refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Install the left and right valve cover. Refer to VALVE COVER LH and VALVE COVER RH .
- Fill the engine with clean engine oil.
NOTE:
If the front cover and gasket are not secured within four minutes, the sealant must be removed and the sealing surface cleaned with metal surface cleaner.
