Exhaust System: Notes

MATERIAL SPECIFICATION

Item Specification
High Temperature Nickel Anti-Seize Lubricant XL-2 (in Canada CXG-2-B) ESE-M12A4-A
CAUTION: Do not use oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolators. They may cause deterioration to the rubber.
CAUTION: Oil or grease-based lubricants on the isolator may cause the exhaust hanger isolator to separate from the exhaust hanger bracket during vehicle operation.
NOTE: Exhaust fasteners are of a torque prevailing design. Use only new fasteners with the same part number as the original. Torque values must be used as specified during reassembly to make sure of correct retention of exhaust components.
  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the parts in the order indicated in the following illustration and table.

    To remove individual parts, only carry out the listed steps:

    Extension pipe and resonator assembly 1-3
    Muffler 4-7
    Converter assembly 4, 5, 8-14

  3. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  4. Check and, if necessary, align the exhaust system. For additional information, refer to EXHAUST SYSTEM ALIGNMENT .
