Cylinder Head: Assembly

- Install the valves.
- Lubricate valve and guides with clean engine oil and using the special tool install the valve stem seals onto the cylinder head valve guides.
- Place the valve spring in position over the valve and install the valve spring retainer.
- Using the special tools, compress the valve spring and install the valve spring retainer keys.
- Remove the special tools.
- Install the 16 tappets.
- Install the CHT sensor.
- Install the spark plugs.
- Install the EGR valve and gasket.
- Install the coolant outlet pipe and gasket.
- Install the rear lifting eye and front lifting eye bracket.
NOTE:
If installing the original valves, make sure the valves are installed in the same position from which they were removed. Coat the valve stems with Super Premium SAE 5W-20 Motor Oil or equivalent meeting Ford specification WSS-M2C153-H.
NOTE:
Use the seal protector provided with the replacement kit to prevent damage to the valve stem seals.
NOTE:
Be sure to install the tappets in the same location as they were removed from.
