WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2011 Ford Taurus. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Do not allow grease, oil, brake fluid or other contaminants to contact the pad lining material, or damage to components may occur. Do not install contaminated pads.
NOTE: If installing new brake pads, make sure to install all new hardware and specified lubricant (8U7Z-19A506-A) supplied with the brake pad kit. Refer to the brake pad instruction sheet when applying lubricant.
  1. Install the new spring clips and brake pads to the brake caliper anchor plate.
    • Apply equal amounts of specified lubricant to the brake caliper-to-brake pad contact points as directed. Install the brake pads to the brake caliper anchor plate.
  2. NOTE: The coil in the center of the wire spreader spring must lie against the anchor plate and must not be in the raised position. If the coil in the center of the wire spreader spring does not rest against the caliper anchor plate, the spring is installed incorrectly and must be repositioned.

  4. NOTE: Do not allow grease, oil, brake fluid or other contaminants to contact the pad lining material, or damage to components may occur. Do not install contaminated pads.
NOTE: If reusing the existing brake pads, be sure to apply equal amounts of the specified lubricant (8U7Z-19A506-A) to the caliper-to-brake pad contact points.
NOTE: Do not grease or lubricate the brake pad spring clips.

  5. Install the spring clips and brake pads to the brake caliper anchor plate.
  6. NOTE: The coil in the center of the wire spreader spring must lie against the anchor plate and must not be in the raised position. If the coil in the center of the wire spreader spring does not rest against the caliper anchor plate, the spring is installed incorrectly and must be repositioned.
  7. Insert the ends of wire spreader spring into holes in pad pressure plates (if equipped).
  8. NOTE: Make sure the caliper pin boots are correctly seated to prevent corrosion to the guide pins.
NOTE: Make sure that the brake hose is not twisted when the caliper is positioned on the anchor plate to prevent abrasive damage.
  9. Position the brake caliper onto the brake caliper anchor plate and install the 2 brake caliper guide pin bolts.
    • Tighten to 72 Nm (53 lb-ft).
  10. Install the wheel and tire. For additional information, refer to WHEELS & TIRES Article.
  11. If necessary, fill the brake master cylinder reservoir with clean, specified brake fluid.
    • Apply brakes several times to verify correct brake operation.
