Selector Lever Cable Adjustment

Adjustment 

  1. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS) , Removal and Installation). Refer to: Air Cleaner 3.7L Duratec (227kW/301PS) .
  2. Apply the parking brake.

  3. Using the diagnostic scan tool select the cable adjustment mode.
  4. NOTE: The GSM will alternate flashing D or N and S simultaneously.

    Press D on the GSM.

  5. Disconnect the selector lever cable end from the transmission manual lever.

  6. NOTE: Verify D is illuminated on the IPC.

    1. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise until it stops.
    2. Rotate the manual control lever clockwise 3 detents into D.

  7. Unlock the adjuster.

    1. Move the slide to the left.
    2. While holding the slide, position the adjuster lock upward.

  8. Connect the selector lever cable end to the transmission manual lever.

  9. Snap the adjuster lock into place.

  10. Press P on the GSM.

  11. Install the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner 2.7L EcoBoost (238kW/324PS) . Refer to: Air Cleaner 3.7L Duratec (227kW/301PS) .
  12. Clear any DTC.
  13. Shift the transmission through the ranges starting in P, then R, then N, then D, then N, then R and then back to P.
  14. Check for DTC.
  15. Disconnect the scan tool.
  16. Verify that the vehicle starts in P and N only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in R.
  17. Release the parking brake.
