Steering Column: Removal
- Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove horn cap. Remove steering wheel with steering wheel puller. See Mazda in Steering Wheel & Column Switches article in this section. Disconnect combination switch coupler and remove switch.
- Remove dust boot. Remove universal joint bolts on intermediate shaft. Remove intermediate shaft from engine compartment side.
- Remove upper and lower steering column mounting bolts. Remove steering column.
- On Pickup models, remove upper column bolts. Remove floor plate bolts and slide floor plate back. Disconnect steering column universal joint. Remove steering column.
