Component Testing

  1. Support vehicle with drive wheels off of ground. Turn ignition switch ON. With control unit connected, connect negative probe of voltmeter to terminal M of control unit connector. Refer to CRUISE CONTROL UNIT CONNECTOR DIAGRAM. Test terminals D through N. See CRUISE CONTROL UNIT TESTING  . If values do not match those specified, check appropriate circuits. If values do match those specified, go to next step.
  2. Start engine and switch cruise control main switch ON. Increase speed until 30 MPH is indicated and push cruise control SET button. Connect negative probe of voltmeter to terminal M of control unit connector. Test terminals A through C. See CRUISE CONTROL UNIT TESTING  . If values do not match those specified, check appropriate circuits.

F At all times 12 volts
I Push SET button 0 volts
I Release SET button 8 volts
J Push COAST button 0 volts
J Release COAST button 8 volts
K Push RESUME button 0 volts
K Release RESUME button 8 volts
E Push brake or clutch pedal 12 volts
N Push brake pedal 12 volts
D Shift to P or N (A/T) 0 volts
D Shift to D or R (A/T) 12 volts
B Push SET button 0 volts
B Release SET button 12 volts
A Push COAST button 0 volts
A Release COAST button 12 volts
C Push clutch pedal 0 volts
C Release clutch pedal 12 volts
H Engine OFF, remove speedo cable from trans Ignition ON, Rotate cable by hand. 0-9 volts
