Air By-Pass Solenoid Valve (Non-Turbo)
- Disconnect coolant thermosensor and connect a 2000-ohm resistor to the terminals of thermosensor connector. Using a voltmeter, connect one probe to Brown/Yellow terminal of air by-pass solenoid valve. Connect other probe to ground. Start and run engine, checking that voltage drops from 12 volts to zero volts after engine has run 17 seconds.
- Disconnect air by-pass solenoid valve connector. Using a volt/ohmmeter, attach probes to terminals of air by-pass solenoid valve connector. Check that there is 10.7-12.3 ohms resistance. See Fig 1
. If not, replace air by-pass solenoid valve.
