Equipment Hookup: Notes

Apply parking brake. Place shift lever in Park (A/T) or Neutral (M/T). Block drive wheels. Turn off all electrical loads. Connect appropriate test equipment to vehicle as follows:

NOTE: Accuracy of service codes depends on correct operation of non-EEC-IV components and systems. All non-EEC-IV problems in engine must be corrected before trying to diagnose EEC-IV system.

Perform KOEO SELF-TEST and KOER SELF-TEST with analog Volt-Ohmmeter (VOM), CHECK ENGINE light, Super Star II tester or appropriate scan tester. After codes have been retrieved, use KOEO SELF-TEST CODE REFERENCE or KOER SELF-TEST CODE REFERENCE table to select correct CIRCUIT TEST for testing and repair.
