* 1993 MX-6 vehicles with a VIN of 1YVGE31A5P5100563 through

1YVGE3A0P5198531.

* 1993 626 vehicles with a VIN of 1YVGE22A1P5103842 through

1YVGE22A7P5198619.

DESCRIPTION

The heater unit case "C" (see Fig 1 ) was modified during 1993 model production. The modification eliminated a cutout from the case for cold air bypass to side vents.

Service parts for early 1993 model production vehicles are no longer available. When replacing a heater unit in vehicles within the affected VIN ranges the heater case must be modified. Follow the instructions in this bulletin to modify the heater unit case.

NOTE: The following modification procedure is included with all replacement heater unit cases.

MODIFICATION PROCEDURE

Confirm that the old heater unit case "C" has the cutout area (See Fig. 1).

Make a copy of the template (supplied with the replacement part and shown in Fig 2 ) and use the copy as a guide for the cutout.

Place the copy on the heater case "C" as shown in Fig 1 .
Mark the area to be cut.
Use a suitable tool to remove the area marked on case "C" (See Fig. 1).

NOTE: If the unit is assembled, use care not to damage the dampener doors with the cutting tool.
