DESCRIPTION

During extreme cold ambient temperatures and under certain driving conditions, moisture in the crankcase may enter the PCV fitting in the upper intake manifold or fresh air line, freeze, and cause pressure in the engine crankcase. The result of this pressure can be an engine oil leak from the top of the oil level indicator tube (dipstick tube). It is also possible, but less likely, that ice may build up on the throttle plate or the throttle body and cause throttle sticking.

Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

  1. Verify customer concern.
  2. Install the PCV kit (Fig 1 ) using the instruction sheet packaged with the kit.
