Steering Wheel: Installation

  1. Ensure front wheels are in straight-ahead position. Route clockspring wiring through steering wheel opening at 3 o'clock position. Install steering wheel, aligning marks made during removal.
  2. Ensure air bag clockspring wire is not pinched when positioning steering wheel. Install NEW steering wheel bolt. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table. Connect cruise control wiring (if equipped) to steering wheel, and snap connector assembly into steering wheel clip.
  3. Install air bag module. Reconnect positive, and then negative battery cable. Activate air bag system. Observe AIR BAG warning light to verify system is functioning properly. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
