Wiper/Washer Systems: Troubleshooting: Notes
WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation involving steering column components. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in this section. DO NOT
apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
Before performing any tests on wiper/washer system, check the following items to eliminate common problems:
- Wiper/Washer Related Fuses
- Damaged/Stripped Wiper Motor Shaft
- Damaged/Stripped Wiper Pivot Arm Shaft
- Damaged Washer Pump
- Loose Or Corroded Connections
- Damaged Wiring Harness
- Binding Windshield Wiper Pivot Arm
- Inoperative Multifunction Switch
- Speed Dependent Feature Deactivated
For testing wiper/washer system, a New Generation Star (NGS) tester (49-T088-0A0) is required. Refer to SYSTEM TEST DIRECTORY table, then go to the appropriate test. For individual component testing, see COMPONENT TESTS .
