Trouble Shooting: Notes

NOTE: If both mirrors are inoperative, begin testing at step 1). If one mirror is inoperative, begin testing at step 4).
  1. Turn ignition on. Check RADIO fuse (15-amp). If fuse is blown, replace fuse (repair wiring if necessary). If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Measure voltage at Purple/Black wire terminal of power mirror switch connector. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair Purple/Black wire between fuse and power mirror switch.
  3. Disconnect power mirror switch connector. Check continuity between ground and Black wire terminal of power mirror switch connector. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair Black wire between power mirror switch and ground.
  4. Check power mirror switch. See POWER MIRROR SWITCH TEST  under COMPONENT TESTS. Replace power mirror switch if faulty. If power mirror switch is okay, reconnect power mirror switch connector and go to next step.
  5. Disconnect power mirror motor connector. Measure voltages at indicated power mirror motor connector terminals with power mirror switch in specified position. See POWER MIRROR CIRCUIT TEST  . If battery voltage does not exist at all terminals, repair wiring between power mirror switch and power mirror motor. If battery voltage exists at all terminals, replace power mirror assembly.
