Testing Sequence
WARNING:
When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES
article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery. Vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn. Always disconnect negative battery cable before measuring resistance on 4WABS system. Inaccurate measurements will result if battery remains connected. Before condemning circuit, check connectors for dirty or corroded terminals.
When diagnosing ABS, use test procedures in the order they are presented. Using other than recommended procedure may result in wasted time and/or unnecessary replacement of components. Recommended sequence for diagnosing system is:
- Perform SYSTEM PRECHECKS .
- Perform ABS QUICK CHECK CHART . See Figure .
- If any DTC's are present, perform appropriate circuit test using DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATION .
- Perform appropriate symptom test. See SYMPTOM TESTS .
- Perform INTERMITTENT DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE .
