DESCRIPTION
During cold weather conditions when the vehicle has been exposed to an ambient temperature of 0°C (32°F) overnight or several hours, engine is hard to start. Engine will crank and start at wide open throttle (clear flood mode). This hard to start condition is due to reformulated winter gasoline which easily vaporizes. It causes an over rich air fuel ratio when the coolant temperature is approximately 0°C (32° F). A modified Powertrain Control Module (PCM) is available which has a revised calibration to decrease the fuel injection pulse width when exposed to coolant temperatures of 0°C (32°F).
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following procedure.
REPAIR PROCEDURE
- Verify customer concern.
