Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor: Protege

Remove distributor. Disconnect distributor 3-pin connector and leave 6-pin connector connected. Connect analog voltmeter (or oscilloscope) negative lead to distributor ground (distributor body or Black/Blue wire terminal). With voltmeter positive lead, backprobe Violet/Green wire terminal. Turn ignition on and rotate distributor shaft by hand. Voltmeter should indicate 4 voltage pulses (5 volts) per revolution. Replace distributor as necessary.
