TEST 13	EGR VALVE
STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	CHECK EGR VALVE FUNCTION BY APPLYING VACUUM WITH HAND PUMP Disconnect Idle Air Control (IAC) valve connector. Remove and plug the vacuum supply hose to EGR valve. Start engine and run at idle with transmission in NEUTRAL. Observe idle speed. Connect a hand vacuum pump to EGR valve and slowly apply vacuum (17-34 kPa {5-20 in-Hg}). Does idle speed drop more than 100 rpm with vacuum applied and return to normal (+/-25 rpm) after vacuum is removed?	Yes	EGR valve is OK.
1		No	Replace EGR valve. See ELECTRICAL COMPONENT LOCATOR .
