Front HALFSHAFT: Reassembly

NOTE:
Make sure all components are clean and free of foreign material.
- Lubricate the outer CV joint with high temperature constant velocity joint grease. See Fig 1 .
- Install the outer halfshaft boot. See Fig 2 .
- Install a new halfshaft shaft bearing retainer circlip. See Figure .
- Use a soft-face hammer to install the inner CV joint by gently tapping it onto the halfshaft. See Fig 3 .
- Remove any excess grease on the mating surfaces and slide the outer halfshaft joint boot forward onto the outer CV joint. See Fig 4 .
- Remove any excess air trapped in the outer halfshaft boot using a cloth covered screwdriver after adjusting the outer halfshaft boot spacing. See Fig 5 .
- Using the Boot Clamp Installer (205-343), install two new outer halfshaft boot clamps. See Fig 6 .
- Position the inner halfshaft boot. See Fig 7 .
- Install the snap ring. See Figure .
- Install the tripod joint on the halfshaft. Line up the marks on the halfshaft and tripod joint. Install the tripod joint on the halfshaft. See Figure .
- Install the snap ring. See Figure .
- Lubricate the three tripod joint needle bearings. Use high temp constant velocity joint grease. See Fig 8 .
- Fill the tripod joint housing with high temp constant velocity joint grease. See Fig 9 .
- Position the tripod housing onto the tripod. See Figure .
- Position the inner halfshaft boot. Position the inner halfshaft boot clamp. See Fig 10 .
- Remove any excess air trapped in the halfshaft boot using a cloth covered screwdriver after adjusting the halfshaft boot spacing. See Fig 5 .
- Using the boot clamp installer, install two new outer joint boot clamps. See Fig 6 .
- Remove the halfshaft from the vise.
- Install the front halfshaft. See HALFSHAFT (FRONT) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
