PCM monitors input voltage from Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor at PCM terminal No. 38. When cold engine is started, PCM checks length of time for engine to reach expected temperature. If temperature is not reached within specified period, DTC is set. This is a continuous monitor. MIL is illuminated if PCM detects malfunction in two consecutive drive cycles.
