Stall Speed Test: Notes
- Apply parking brake and block all 4 wheels. Inspect engine coolant, and engine oil levels. Start engine and operate until vehicle is at normal operating temperature. Check transmission fluid level, ignition timing and idle speed. Add fluid and adjust as necessary. Connect tachometer to vehicle and ensure it is visible to driver.CAUTION: DO NOT maintain stall speed RPM for more than 5 seconds. Ensure at least a 30 second pause at idle between tests.
- Start engine, apply brakes and place selector lever in "R" position. Depress accelerator to full throttle and note maximum RPM obtained. Place selector lever in "N" position and allow engine to idle for one minute. Repeat test in "D", "2" and "1" positions. Stall speed should be 2370-2740 RPM.
