Ignition Timing Inspection
- Perform "Engine Tune-up Preparation". See ENGINE TUNE-UP PREPARATION .
- Verify that the RPM PID is within the specification.
- If not as specified, adjust the idle speed. See IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENT .
Specification
650-750 (700+/-50) RPM
- Connect the timing light to the high-tension lead of the No.1 cylinder.
- Verify that the timing mark (Yellow) on the crankshaft pulley is within the specification.
- If not as specified, inspect following.
- CMP sensor
- CKP sensor
- TP sensor
- ECT sensor
- Neutral switch (MTX)
- Clutch switch (MTX)
- TR switch (ATX)
- If the devices are normal, replace the PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article.
Ignition Timing
BTDC 9°-11° (10°+/-1°) (TIMING MARK [YELLOW])
- If not as specified, inspect following.
- Connect the SST (System Selector) to the DLC.
- Set switch "A" to position 1.
- Set the test switch to SELF TEST.
- Verify that the timing mark (Yellow) on the crankshaft pulley is within specification.
- If not as specified, inspect the following.
- CMP sensor
- CKP sensor
- TP sensor
- ECT sensor
- Neutral switch (MTX)
- Clutch switch (MTX)
- TR switch (ATX)
- If the devices are normal, replace the PCM. See POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article.
Specification
BTDC 6°-18°
